From Acute Injury to Peak Performance – We’ve Got You Covered

Whether you’ve just suffered a high-impact injury on the football field or you’re a golfer dealing with persistent shoulder discomfort, South Eastern Chiropractic Centre provides comprehensive sports chiropractic care designed to get you back to peak performance quickly and safely.

Dr Kevin Ulbrick (Chiropractor) understands that athletes — from weekend warriors to elite competitors — have unique needs that require specialised attention and rapid, effective treatment. Our sports medicine approach recognises that your body is either a reliable workhorse or a high-performance machine, and we adjust our care accordingly. Whether you’re 18 or 80, we focus on maximising your movement patterns, minimising nerve irritation, and strengthening posture to help you perform at your best while reducing injury risk.

Our Two-Phase Sports Recovery System

When you’ve suffered an acute sports injury, timing is critical for proper healing and preventing long-term complications. Our proven two-phase approach ensures you receive exactly the right care at precisely the right stage of recovery.

Phase one focuses on acute management — providing professional first aid to reduce inflammation, manage pain, and begin gentle movement rehabilitation. This may include:

  • Hands-on therapy
  • Ice applications
  • Kinesio taping
  • Carefully controlled movement exercises

Phase two begins once the initial inflammation and swelling have subsided, typically after three to four days. At this stage, we shift into active rehabilitation mode, implementing progressive exercise loading and more intensive manual therapy to restore full function. We may also conduct investigations such as X-rays to rule out underlying structural issues that could complicate your recovery.

Common Sports Injuries We Treat

Our practice sees a wide range of sports-related injuries, with footballers and golfers among our most frequent patients. Footballers often present with acute injuries from high-impact collisions, while golfers tend to suffer from chronic, repetitive strain injuries that develop over time.

Frequently treated conditions include:

  • Back strains and contusions from contact sports
  • Sciatica and nerve irritation
  • Chronic low back and neck pain
  • Shoulder and arm pain (especially common in golfers)
  • Headaches related to neck trauma
  • Muscle strains and tears
  • Post-injury movement dysfunction

Performance Enhancement Through Chiropractic Care

You don’t need to be injured to benefit from sports chiropractic care. Many athletes use our services to maintain peak performance and prevent injuries before they occur. Outside of acute injury care, our approach mirrors the same philosophy we apply to all our patients — optimising movement patterns, reducing nerve irritation, and maintaining strong posture.

Athletes who develop efficient movement patterns, excellent posture, and a strong, flexible spine are less likely to suffer injuries and more likely to perform at consistently high levels. It’s not rocket science — it’s simply attention to the fundamentals of spinal health and movement quality.
